when i searched for something in my dekiwiki i got the following error:

Error querying the lucene index service. The following query may contain characters which need to be escaped: (links title:links^4 description:links^3 tag:links^2 comments:links)

i saw here:

that it probably was a permissions error so i ended up doing this and the error went away:

sudo chown -R dekiwiki:www-data /var/www/attachments
sudo chown -R dekiwiki:www-data /var/www/bin
sudo chown -R dekiwiki:www-data /var/www/maintenance/
sudo chown -R dekiwiki:www-data /var/www/resources/

after getting the error fixed in the previous post i had to get a lucene search index since it was never created in the beginning because of the permissions problem so i ran this in the server console:

sudo /etc/init.d/dekiwiki restart

and just to be sure, i decided to create/rebuild/refresh/update the lucene index. from the dekiwiki web interface:
tools > control panel > maintenance & history > cache management > rebuild search index > click "Rebuild Now"

then after a couple of minutes i could search and get results =)
